Post Game Report
After VfL played
tied in their last northern serby in Hamburg, they now showed the Bremen squad,
who's best in northern Germany. VfL won their home game against Werder - for
the first time ever.
VfL had a lot of problems and struggled in the
first half. Especially in the last minutes of this kinda boring first half,
Bremen had a few chances. Even after halftime they played the better game.
Thanks to oldie Claus Reitmaier, who saved against Stalteri (21), Ailton (44)
and Lisztes (52). So it stayed scoreless. Ald it also stayed scoreless in
minute 53, when the referee waved play after Frank Baumann's header appeared to
have crossed the line. Dorinel Munteanu cleared off the line with goalkeeper
Claus Reitmaier already beaten. This has been a controversially decision - and
me and my friends who were standing on the level of the ball all saw behind the
line.
A lot of luck for VfL - and this seemed to wake them up. They
showed much improvement from this time on. They finally were rewarded for some
good offense work with an all in all deserved win.
Diego Fernando
Klimowicz turned in another match-winning performance as he scored one and set
up Martin Petrov for the second in a 2-0 win over Weder Bremen. The Argentinian
was on target as he rounded goalkeeper Frank Rost and slotted home from close
range on 65 minutes. Klimowicz played down his contribution, giving Croatian
team-mate Marian Biliskov the credit for picking him out with a pin-point
30-yard pass. "There was no way I could miss after such a great set-up," he
said. Only 14 minutes later, Klimovicz delivered a pass of similar quality to
set-up Martin Petrov. The pacy Bulgarian beat the onrushing Rost to the ball
and flicked the ball into the empty net. Minutes later Klimo must have scored
again, but he only hit the post after Ponte brought it in from the left
side.
Klimowicz has been included in the "Team of the day" of German TV
soccer magazin RAN (see
http://www.sport1.de).
Good to see Petrov score -
sad to see him getting his fifth yellow card. He therefor will miss the
Nuremberg game. Schnoor and Munteanu got their fourth card and are now just one
step ahead of a one game suspension.
See some pics on the website of

goals!!!).
(Funny to see the referee broke his flag and getting
two new ones out of the cabin.)
